Othello Community Hospital Continues to Win Awards in 2009
June 04, 2012

For five of the last six years, OCH has been named one of the "Most Wired" hospitals. This award is granted for the best use of computer technology. We would like to thank our Board of Commissioners and CEO for their leadership and vision. We would also like to thank Connie Agenbroad, HIM Director, Jody Ulrich, CNO, and TIna Bernsen, RN for all their work in helping to implement the projects that made this award possible.

For the fifth year in a row, OCH has been awarded a trophy for "Best Hands on Care". This award is given for Hand Hygiene which is one of the most important issues in patient safety. Our thanks go to Mary McCourtie, RN and the nursing staff for their committment to patient safety and making this award possible.

For the fourth year in a row, OCH has been the first place winner in the CEO Safety Challenge and a $5000.00 prize sponsored by Washington Hospitals Workers' Compensation. This award involves making a video demonstrating the CEO's commitment to safety. This year OCH placed first for the second time, we also have a second place win. Thanks go out to our wonderful and talented Physical Therapy department for their inspiration and hard work to write, direct, edit, and produce the winning video. Thanks also to our CEO for being so willing and to all the players and others involved in the video.

OCH won the Top Performer award and a $5000.00 prize also from our Workers' Compensation Program. There are certain criteria to meet one of which is timely reporting of safety incidents. Many thanks to Stan Fuhriman for his leadership and Stephani Lind and Mindy Gonzalez for their roles in the reporting process.
